Mary Perry Hudson, a reformed Jimi Hendrix rock ‘n roll groupie who ultimately became a Christian missionary, is about to deliver an explosive testimony — in tell-all form, of course — about her famous daughter, pop star Katy Perry. The New York Post’s Page Six Column has gotten its Hot Little Hands on an advanced copy of a proposal that Mary’s been floating around to Big Apple publishers. And we hear some of the stuff this Woman of God has to say about her own kid would make Billy Ray Cyrus and Debbie Mathers look like Daddy Warbucks.
As Mary tells it, her ministry with hubby Keith Perry (Katy’s dad) has been adversly effected by many of Katy’s choices, professionally and otherwise. Apparently, evangelical Christians don’t smile on raunchy singers whose hots include “U R So Gay” and “I Kissed a Girl.” Nor are Katy’s bust-bearing outfits — once branded too sexy for Sesame Street — doing much to help Mommy and Daddy spread the word of the Lord. We haven’t even gotten into Katy’s whirlwind romance and subsequent marriage to former sex-addict Russell Brand.
“Amid a torrent of negative reports from tabloid magazines and entertainment shows, Mary Hudson wants to tell ‘her story’ and dispel a lot of rumors,” the proposal reads. “Katy’s success has impacted her ministry in both negative and positive ways. She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career. This memoir is to set the record straight. It is not Christian proselytizing or a Katy Perry tell-all. It is the story of Mary Perry Hudson.”
