Music Fans anxiously awaiting the release of Kelly Clarkson’s fifth studio album will have to wait just a little bit longer.
Clarkson issued an apology to her fans this week after executives at Sony Music revealed that her highly-anticipated fifth album has been pushed back. An announcement of the album’s official release date is expected soon, but according to a statement from Sony Music, the still-untitled effort won’t drop until at least September.
In an posting to her Facebook page this week, Kelly writes: “I recently found out that my album won’t be coming out until September… the album has been recorded but I can’t release it until then. I realize that is a long time but that’s the best time to release it apparently so I’m sorry for the wait but I promise you it sounds great!”
The “Since U Been Gone” hitmaker has been busy working on the follow-up to 2009′s All I Ever Wanted and finished the songs in December. Overall, Clarkson called it a “great pop record,” on which she worked with producers and songwriters that include Steve Jordan, Eric Hutchinson, Rodney Jerkins, Howard Benson, and Toby Gad.
Kelly’s last disc, 2009′s her second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, sitting atop the chart for two weeks and selling 913,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
