I am currently working as a Functional Solution Architect in an IT firm.

Current Status: H1B (6th year)

GC status as follows:

Priority Date: April 2007
EAD received: October 2007
I-140 is approved.

Under the AC21 portability I believe I can change my employer without affecting my GC process. However I want to change my field of work from IT to Finance. My question is:

1. Is that permissible and can I use my EAD to work for a new employer in a different field.
2. If the above is not permissible and If I change my job in the same field, can my previous employer cancel my GC process, even though my I-140 is approved. If they can, how can I mitigate that possibility.

I checked with different attorney and they say that my attorney did not file interfiling letter for my 140. Is that going to effect my application. What is the format for interfiling letter.

I am sure this may have been asked already but I coudn't find a thread.

I have an approved and valid extension on my H1 but my EAD expired in august and my AP expired last month. I didn't file for an EAD/AP renewal yet because I was not using them and wanted to delay it for a few months and save some money.

Will there be any problem with a delayed EAD/AP filing ?

I am not sure about the answer. It depends on how close you are to finding the new position. Once you find a new position, speak with attorney for new company. In worst case can always do H1 extension in premium. If I were you, I would just have a hard dead line of say April end. If I dont find a new job by then, would just file for extension in premium.

Unless otherwise you invoke her H1, she will be in H4 even if H1 is approved today. Invoking means, going to home country and getting it stamped or start working for a company and getting paid via paystub and having SSN

I think it is only for Mumbai Consulate(as mentioned in VFS (http://www.vfs-usa.co.in)).

"For Mumbai consular district applicants only: Drop off your required documents three working days prior to your appointment at a VFS Application Centre in Mumbai, Pune or Ahmedabad."

No where it is mentioned that HYD consulate has started. Where did you find it?

EB-3 Skilled: Mexico(6,766), Korea(4,375), Philippines(4,114), Ecuador(3,747), Brazil(3,670), Poland(3,230), India(3,006), China(2,477), Pakistan(2,091)

Assuming there are atleast 300K Indians waiting for visa numbers in the EB2 + EB3 category (including dependents) and 6726 out of them were covered last year, we will have to wait for just another 44 years and 7 months to get an immigrant visa number. LOL
