Teresa Scanlan, 17, Wins Miss America 2011

Miss Nebraska Teresa Scanlan was crowned Miss America 2011 at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 15.

Born on February 6, 1993, Scanlan is the youngest pageant winner! Earlier, she became the youngest ever Miss Nebraska on June 5, 2010.

A resident of Gering, Nebraska, Scanlan graduated early from Scottsbluff High School in the spring of 2010, after taking double classes.

She is currently on a year long sabbatical from her studies to fulfill her duties as Miss Nebraska.

Scanlan wants to attend law school and become a judge and eventually a politician.

Her platform issue is Eating Disorders: A Generation at Risk. She was alerted to the problem after a friend developed eating disorder. She researched the subject and realized the problem was rampant. She works closely with the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders.
