Cheryl Cole's Butterfly Tattoo Sitting Took 11 Hours

Cheryl Cole’s new tattoo, which is a 13-inch butterfly themed design, took 11 hours to be inked on her back.

The X Factor judge, who showed off her butterfly tattoo at Wednesday’s National Television Awards, revealed the tattoo is symbolic of her newfound freedom after her divorce from Ashley.

"The tattoo is deeply personal. It took weeks to come up with the final design. It has a strong symbolic meaning and signifies a fresh start and my new independence.” Cheryl said adding, "The sitting itself was pretty painful but I was determined to get it done in one hit. I didn't cry once!"

Cole has five other known tattoos – a hand design, barbed wire around her right upper thigh, a large butterfly design on her back, as well as one on the left side of her bottom and ‘Mrs C’ on her neck.
